Dear Mentoring Colleagues,

We are delighted to invite submissions to a new special issue of the International Journal of Mentoring and Coaching in Education (IJMCE), ranked Q1 in Education: Sustainable Mentoring in Education: Advancing Research, Theory, and Practice

As mentoring continues to play a central role in supporting learning, professional development, career progression, wellbeing, and retention, there is an increasing need to understand what makes mentoring sustainable over time. This special issue aims to bring together empirical, conceptual, theoretical, and practice-based contributions that explore how mentoring can create enduring benefits for individuals, organisations, and professional communities.

We welcome submissions on topics including (but not limited to):
• Inclusive and equitable mentoring practices
• Professionalization of mentoring
• Long-term and transformative mentoring outcomes
• Mentoring systems, ecologies, and organizational contexts
• Translating mentoring research into sustainable practice and policy

The special issue takes an interdisciplinary perspective while maintaining a strong focus on education. We particularly welcome contributions that bridge research and practice or offer insights transferable from related sectors such as healthcare and business.

• Submission deadline: 5 January 2027
