Differently Situated: An Asset-Based Perspective on Mentoring hosted by Brenda Marina-Lewis The notion of differently situated, bears in mind that different cultures exists in organizations, institutions, in countries, racial and ethnic groups, and within each of these there may be subcultures that have their own set of beliefs and values (Kochan, F. & Pascarelli, J., 2003; Morrison, T., 2001; Marina, B., 2019). An asset-based perspective considers all resources, actions, transactions, capacities, abilities, inner strengths, possessions and so on that people have but not yet fully realized (Khanare, F. & Marina, B. 2019; Chikoko, V. & Khanare, F., 2012) Combining these two conceptions, this discussion will unpack how mentoring relationships have flourished or failed when assets are utilized or ignored in different spaces. Join us for a virtual coffee session - These informal conversations bring together mentoring leaders and newcomers alike to share insights, exchange best practices, and explore what’s working in today’s mentoring landscape.
